LDS Fasting Linked to Lower Diabetes Prevalence: 12% vs 20%

Routine fasters: 12% diabetes prevalence. Non-fasters: 20%. Same study population.

The Intermountain Medical Center study that found a 54% lower coronary artery disease risk among routine fasters also documented a significant difference in diabetes prevalence: 12% among routine fasters versus 20% among non-fasters in the same patient population.

LDS members fast one Sunday per month — 24 hours without food or water. This peer-reviewed cardiovascular research documents that the practice is associated with measurably lower rates of both heart disease and diabetes.
