At the end of 2024, 74,127 full-time missionaries were serving across 450 missions in more than 150 countries — a 9% increase from 2023. An additional 35,312 serve as service missionaries.
Most full-time missionaries are ages 18-25, funding the experience themselves or with family support. There is no salary or financial incentive. For comparison, the U.S. Peace Corps had approximately 3,500 volunteers serving in 2024. (Church-reported figures.)
