The 2023-24 Pew Religious Landscape Study asked 36,908 Americans how often they participate in prayer groups, Bible study, or scripture study groups. Latter-day Saints came in first at 45% weekly participation — 15 points ahead of Evangelical Protestants at 30%. Historically Black Protestants: 28%. The national average is 13%.
This represents structured, weekly, community-level engagement with scripture. The 32-point gap between LDS participation and the national average reflects the LDS culture of organized study groups (Sunday School, weeknight activities, seminary) built into the fabric of church life.
